No clutter

Clipcy keeps the clipboard workflow in a compact popup, with search, pinned items, and previews close to the copies you need. Open it from your current application, find an earlier copy, and paste it back into your work without opening a separate window to manage your history.

Privacy first

Your clipboard history stays on your PC instead of being synchronized to a cloud account, and file previews read the original files without archiving them. If your password manager clears a password from the clipboard, Clipcy removes it from history too; the local history database itself is not encrypted.

Keyboard first

Use Alt+V to open your history, type to search, and move through the results with the arrow keys before pressing Enter to paste. Pin frequently used items with Ctrl+P or paste text without formatting with Shift+Enter, keeping these everyday actions available without reaching for the mouse.

Open source

Clipcy is free and open source under the MIT license, so you can inspect the code and build the Windows application from source. The GitHub repository includes setup instructions and the implementation, giving you a place to report bugs, suggest improvements, or contribute changes to the clipboard manager.

Frequently asked questions

Which platforms are supported?

Clipcy is available for Windows 10 version 1809 or later and Windows 11, while macOS and Linux versions are planned but not yet available.

How do I open Clipcy?

Press Alt+V to open your clipboard history from the application you are using, or choose a different global hotkey in Settings.

Where is clipboard history stored?

Clipcy stores clipboard history locally on your PC in %LOCALAPPDATA%\clipcy\clipcy.db, without cloud synchronization or remote storage. The local database is not encrypted, so consider what sensitive content you keep in your history.

Are copied files archived?

Clipcy saves copied file paths rather than archiving the files themselves, and its preview reads the file at its current location. If you move or delete the original file, the saved path can no longer provide a working preview.
